A power bank for flying needs to stay under the airline watt-hour limit, ride in your carry-on and still have enough output for the devices you bring. All three picks here are well under 100Wh by the usual mAh-to-Wh math. The Anker 20K 87W is the pick if you carry a laptop, the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 20K adds a battery display, and the Anker Nano 10K is the lightest for phone-only trips.

Watch out for
- Heaviest of the three
- Wh figure not printed on the product page
Anker lists this bank at 20,000mAh with 87W shared across three devices and up to 65W to a single device, enough to charge a 14 in MacBook Pro to 50% in under 40 minutes by Anker’s figures. The built-in USB-C cable is rated for more than 10,000 bends, so there is one fewer cable to pack. It measures 157.5 x 73.7 x 25.4 mm and weighs 439.4 g, the heaviest here. Anker says it recharges in about 1.5 hours from a 65W charger and describes it as approved for airline travel. The product page gives capacity in mAh, so check the Wh label on the bank itself.

★Lightest
AnkerNano Power Bank (30W, Built-In USB-C Cable) A1259
Best for: Phones and light packing
A 10,000mAh power bank with a built-in USB-C cable, plus a USB-C port and a USB-A port, at 215 g.

At 104 x 52.3 x 26 mm and 215 g, it is roughly half the weight of the 20K. Anker’s own flight FAQ names the A1259 as one of its banks within the 100Wh limit. It is not built to charge most laptops at full speed.
How to choose
- Check the watt-hours. Airlines go by Wh, not mAh. Most allow up to 100Wh without approval. Look for the rating printed on the bank.
- Match output to your devices. Laptops usually need 45W to 65W from USB-C. Phones need far less.
- Count the cables. A built-in cable saves packing one, but you cannot replace it if it fails.
- Keep it in the cabin. Spare lithium batteries go in your carry-on. See FAA PackSafe rules.
- Pack the rest right. Our carry-on luggage picks list bags with USB ports for a power bank.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put a power bank in checked luggage?
No. Power banks are spare lithium batteries and belong in your carry-on. See our guide to power bank rules for flying.
How do I work out watt-hours?
Multiply amp-hours by volts. Anker says a typical 20,000mAh bank at 3.7V is about 74Wh, under the usual 100Wh limit without airline approval. The exact rating should be printed on the bank.
Which of these can charge a laptop?
The Anker 20K (65W to one device) and the Belkin 20K (65W from one USB-C port). The Nano 10K tops out at 30W.
Which is lightest?
The Anker Nano 10K at 215 g. Belkin does not publish a weight for the BoostCharge Pro 20K.
