For carry-on liquids, every container has to be 3.4 oz (100 ml) or less and fit in a single quart-size bag. The three picks here take different approaches. The humangear GoToob+ is a full 3.4 oz squeeze tube, the Matador FlatPak is a flat, very light bottle, and Cadence Capsules are small magnetic containers for creams and small amounts.

★Best for shampoo

humangearGoToob+ Large 3.4 oz

A 3.4 fl oz (100 ml) squeeze tube in food-safe, BPA-free silicone with a locking cap and no-drip valve.

What we like

  • Full 3.4 oz
  • Wide opening for filling
  • Stands on its cap

Watch out for

  • Heaviest bottle here

It measures 2.25 x 4.5 x 1.5 in and weighs 2.29 oz (65 g) empty. A LoopLock cap and a no-drip valve guard against leaks, and the wide opening makes it easier to fill. It also stands on its cap.

A flat 3 oz (90 ml) refillable bottle that weighs 0.41 oz empty.

What we like

  • Lightest by far
  • Flat shape packs well

Watch out for

  • Slightly under 3.4 oz

Matador’s FlatPak holds 3 oz (90 ml), a little under the limit. At 0.41 oz (11.5 g) empty and 4.3 x 3.1 x 0.9 in, it is the lightest and flattest bottle here, which helps when the quart bag is full.
